SABF - ANOT

The Autumn National Championships are conducted by the SA Bridge Federation under licence from the ABF.  These will all be Gold Point events.  The Open and Mixed events will attract PQPs towards the 2023 national playoffs.

WHAT’S NEW IN 2022:

* Play starts each day at 9.30am and finishes at 5.45pm (Thursday to Sunday).

* All weekend Teams events have 8 x 14-board matches (4 per day)

* Two new events have been added:

     * Under Grand Master Butler Swiss Pairs (Thursday and Friday)

     * Under Grand Master Teams (Saturday and Sunday)

       for players who have not attained the rank of Grand Master by 31st December 2021.

THE EVENTS:

* Butler Swiss Pairs: Open, Mixed, Under Grand Master or Under Life Master

Thursday 28th April and Friday 29th April (attendance at all sessions is compulsory),

8 x 14 board matches, 9.30am start each day (finish 5.45pm)

To play in the Under Grand Master event, players must not have attained the rank of Grand Master by 31st December 2021.

To play in the Under Life Master event, players must not have attained the rank of Life Master by 31st December 2021.

* Swiss Teams: Open, Under Grand Master or Under Life Master

Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May (attendance at all sessions is compulsory),

The Final of the Open Teams will be held on Monday 2nd May.   

8 x 14 board matches, 9.30am start each day (finish 5.45pm)

To play in the Under Grand Master event, players must not have attained the rank of Grand Master by 31st December 2021.

To play in the Under Life Master event, players must not have attained the rank of Life Master by 31st December 2021.

 * Consolation (Swiss Pairs and Teams) held on Monday 2nd May, concurrently with the final of the Open Teams.  There will be 6 x 8 board matches.  To encourage newer players, entry will be free for players with less than 25 masterpoints, who have not played in these events previously.

IMPORTANT POINTS:

* All players must be double vaccinated (or provide a valid exemption) as per the ABF’s vaccination mandate.

* We will be complying with any SA Health regulations in place at the time of the event.

* Gold points will be awarded in all events: in Open events, at the full rate; in Under Grand Master events, at the A2 rate (half the Open rate); in Under Life Master events, at a lesser rate (dependent on the entrants).

* Full refunds will be given to all entries if the event is cancelled for pandemic reasons or border closures.

• SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

The venue is well-served by public transport. Travel to Bus Stop 2 on Goodwood Road via bus routes G10 / W91 / G20 / G30 / G40, which leave King William Street in the city at regular intervals. Or (further to walk) catch the Seaford or Belair line train to the Showground station.  Or take the tram to Leader Street. For timetables etc, go to adelaidemetro.com.au.

On-site parking is available at $12 per day, entry via Rose Terrace (to the north). We will be sourcing a number of 5-day parking passes at cost of $24 per pass (for the duration of the events) . Contact the Organiser before 18th April to have one allocated to you.

There is a limited amount of parking nearby for mobility-challenged players. Please contact the Organiser for more information.

Water and instant tea & coffee are provided free of charge for players (in the break-out area of the Ridley Centre).

Lunches will be available for purchase in the Atrium Court outside the Ridley Centre. This will include sandwiches, hot food, cakes, fresh fruit etc and ‘better’ coffee. To reduce queuing, you can pre-order your lunch up to an hour before play starts each day.

Drakes have a food centre in their supermarket across the road, selling hot and cold lunches, hot and cold drinks (Nonna's Pasta, The Little Kitchen, Muffin Break, Grown & Ground).

There is also a Subway outlet on Goodwood Road a short walk south of the venue.
