GENERAL INFORMATION
RESTRICTED CATEGORIES defined
Under Grand Master events: each player must be Under Grand Master at 31/12/2025 AND each player must have fewer than 1,100 masterpoints.
Under Life Master events: each player must be Under Life Master at 31/12/2025 AND each player must have fewer than 400 masterpoints.
Novice (Butler Swiss Pairs only): each player must have fewer than 100 masterpoints at 31/12/2025.
Rookie (Butler Swiss Pairs only): each player must have fewer than 35 masterpoints at 31/12/2025.
AUSTRALIAN BLUE RIBBON PAIRS
The Australian Blue Ribbon Pairs is a new two- or three-day matchpoint pairs event.
The Open event is a three day matchpoint pairs: Qualifying, Semi-Final and Final from Friday to Sunday. (Open Teams finalists have the right to drop into Semi-Final A.) There will be two Semi-Finals - SF A and SF B. The top TWO pairs from SF B will qualify for the FInal, along with 16 pairs from SF A. There will be 18 pairs in the Final, with the remaining pairs playing a consolation event (format determined by the number of entries). There will be carryforward from each stage to the next.
The Under Grand Master and Under Life Master events will be held over two days: Qualifying and Final only, on Saturday and Sunday. The top 18 pairs in each event qualify for the Final; the remainder play a consolation matchpoint pairs event. There will be carryforward from the Qualifying to the Final.
MASTERPOINTS will be awarded for all scores of 46% and higher.
The finals will have Barometer scoring.
ONE DAY BUTLER SWISS PAIRS
On Friday 1st May, there will be a one-day Butler Swiss Pairs for RESTRICTED players only.
In all likelihood, but depending on entries, entrants will play as one field, with place-getters in each restricted category: Under Grand Master, Under Life Master, Novice categories.
DAVID LUSK ROOKIE BUTLER SWISS PAIRS
This event is restricted to those players with fewer than 35 MPs at 31st December 2025. It is a one-day event, on Friday 1st May 2026.
It will be held alongside the Restricted Butler Swiss Pairs, but as a separate field.
PRIZES
More than $25,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place-getters. Please see the Prize List (downloads).
DAILY STARTING TIME
Each day's play starts at 10.00am (except the Open Teams Final).
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT
$20 per person per event (except for Rookie Pairs).
Early Bird Discount ends on 31st March 2026.

PARKING PASSES
Parking is available onsite, via the Rose Terrace entrance, with the daily rate being $14.00. Bridge players can pre-purchase 5-day parking passes for $28.00. Please purchase your parking pass using MyABF.

Transport
The venue is well-served by public transport. Travel to Bus Stop 2 on Goodwood Road - via bus routes G10, W91, G20, G30, G40 - which all go along King William Street in the city. You can also catch the train - Belair or Seaford lines - to the Showground station, but it's further to walk. The tram stops on Leader Street. For timetables: adelaidemetro.com.au.
On-site parking is available in the Rose Terrace car park (northern side of Showground). The daily rate is $14.00, however we have 5-day parking passes at cost of $28. Contact the Organiser, Barbara Travis, to arrange advance purchase.
There is a restricted amount of parking nearby for mobility-limited players. Please contact the Organiser for more information/map.
Catering
Water will be provided free of charge throughout the playing areas and break-out areas.
Lunches will be available for purchase in the Atrium Court outside the Ridley Centre. This will include sandwiches, hot food, cakes, fresh fruit etc and ‘better’ coffee. To reduce queuing, you can pre-order your lunch up to an hour before play starts each day, then join to 'collection line' at the lunch break.
Drakes Supermarkets have a food centre in their supermarket across the road, selling hot and cold lunches, hot and cold drinks (Nonna's Pasta, The Little Kitchen, Muffin Break, Grown & Ground).
There is also a Subway outlet on Goodwood Road, a short walk south of the venue.

The SABF expects all participants to comply with any SA Health regulations in place at the time of the event.
Gold points will be awarded in all events: in Open events, at the full rate; in Under Grand Master events, at the A2 rate (half the Open rate); in Under Life Master events, at a lesser rate (dependent on the entrants)
