GENERAL INFORMATION
ELIGIBILITY
This is an inter-club competition. Each entry must consist of players who are all members of the Ballina Bridge Club or players who are all members of the Gold Coast Bridge Club.
DIVISIONS (GRADES)
Three Divisions (Grades)
Open Intermediate (Under 1,000 Mastepoints*) Restricted (Under 300 Masterpoints*)
It is envisaged that each division will run as a separate round robin event, with contestants to only play against contestant from the other club.
Depending upon the numbers from both clubs, the event may be run as either a Teams or Pairs event. If run as a teams event, while teams are usually four members, they can consist of four, five or six players.
Masterpoints as at 31 July 2022.
* Grades are shown with these provisional masterpoints limits, but the final allocation of contestants between the grades may take into consideration factors such as player numbers, the average masterpoints per contestant and players’ competition history. An entry for the Intermediate or Restricted grades can be submitted even if a player/s is slightly above the provisional masterpoint limit for the grade. Such entry will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
HOW TO ENTER - PAYMENT OPTIONS
The entry fee is $15 per player.
Entries are lodged on a pair basis. When run as a teams event, the organiser from the relevant club will combine pairs to form club teams. If a pair would prefer to join up with another specific pair to form a team, please contact the organiser from the relevant club to request this.
Ballina Bridge Club Members.
The Ballina Bridge Club is accepting entries and payment internally, rather than in MyABF.
If you are a member of the Ballina Bridge Club, contact Marjorie Askew. The remaining material in this section is not relevant to you.
Gold Coast Bridge Club members
Entering and paying via MyABF is strongly encouraged. Pay in MyABF by either using either Bridge Credits in your myABF account or by credit card.
For those unfamiliar with MyABF, see Videos and How To Guides in the "Links" section above.
The process of setting up your MyABF account is quite simple - if you have not set up your account already, click here, it should take only about one minute. However if you require extra assistance, a list of players willing to sit down at the clubhouse and assist other players to set up their own personal MyABF account is available here. Note all players in your entry need to have their own MyABF registration if they are to be specifically named. If you are putting in the entry but are waiting for another person to set up their own MyABF account, you can lodge the entry with the player shown as "TBA" ( to be advised). If so, please also add their name in the comments area - which is then visible to the Tournament Organisers and director. The "TBA" can be updated when the player has set up their MyABF account.
The entry fee is shown on a "per pair" basis. You can pay for just yourself, pay for both your partner or yourself, or merely put in your entry now and pay later.
If for any reason you cannot enter and pay via MyABF but wish to play in the event, contact Paul Brake.
ENTRIES ARE ACCEPTED ON A PROVISIONAL BASIS
Entries
will appear in the list of entries immediately when lodged in MyABF
but as this is an inter-club competition, the number of contestants from one club may need to be adjusted to take into account the numbers from the other club. If the number of players from one club exceeds the places available, a nomination process may be required, undertaken by the Tournament Organisers. This would be conducted well in advance before the event so all players can make plans for the day.
SYSTEMS
Red, Blue & Green systems and brown sticker conventions and treatments are allowed, except in the lowest grade, where only Blue & Green systems are allowed. Players must ensure the correctness of their system classification.
MASTERPOINTS
Red Masterpoints at B5i level will be awarded.
Masterpoints for each match win or draw, plus the top third of each division (grade).
Masterpoints not guaranteed unless correct ABF number provided.
