Victor Champion Cup

Welcome to the Victor Champion Cup Bridge Festival. This event is run by Bridge Victoria, under licence from the ABF and is scheduled over the Victorian King's Birthday long weekend, from Thursday 6th June through to Monday 10th June 2024. All entries must be made online and all players need to be registered with MyABF. We have expanded our offering with a new event for Rookies, those under 25MPs.

Organisers reserve the right to combine restricted categories if insufficient tables register. Equally, existing categories may be broken out to separate events should there be sufficient tables.

If you are driving to the venue, take Gate 6 from Dean St or use Wilson St and proceed to the centre of the racecourse to park. Parking will now be free. If you have disabled passengers, you can drop them at the front door before proceeding back out to park. We will provide separate details later. From the airport, it is only a 15-minute drive.  Allow 10 more minutes during the peak. Coming by tram, the nearest stop is just 150m from the Gate 2 main entry. Use the Moonee Valley Civic Centre stop on Pascoe Vale  Rd. Coming by train, use the Moonee Ponds station and walk 450m to Gate 2. Everything is shown on the map above. Detailed instructions will be sent out to players the weekend prior. Gate 2 is the entrance nearest the junction of Feehan Ave and Dean St. Older GPS may not recognise Feehan Ave (it was renamed 3 years ago). Use 28 Dean St instead in your GPS.

The racecourse is situated in the heart of Moonee Ponds with cafes, hotels, restaurants and more, all within walking distance to the venue and reasonable prices. Courtesy Kim Frazer, here are some places you should google and try:

Saros - bottom of Sebel - although it is the hotel's restaurant, has excellent service.
Chiba - Japanese (well recommended).
Taksim Square - Turkish (go there hungry) good for groups and sharing plates.
Phillelhene - Greek - also good for groups and sharing plates.
Escagrill - Italian - variety of traditional Italian dishes and steak.
Gourmet Kitchen (Good international cuisine).
Chilli Pepper - Vietnamese - small place but been in the area for a long time.
Vintage Cellar Wine Bar (very busy popular Wine Bar with Spanish influence). 
Ascot Food & Wine (gets great reviews and is always busy)

Other options include Jack's Satay Bar, Portobello, and Carosello.
Further afield in Union Road ( a short Uber trip) is Arcadia Gastronomique 

During the event, we will be bringing you an in-house menu to order from for some smart and simple lunches. I will email instructions and price list to all players. We need you to pay on ordering with a credit card. A tea station will be available all day but coffee lovers will have their usual coffee cart fro which to purchase coffee.
