SABF - ANC 2022

Welcome to the 2022 ANC to be held at The Junction, 470 Anzac Highway, Camen Park, SA 5038

The ANC events are conducted by the SA Bridge Federation under licence from the ABF. The Butler Open Pairs and the Butler Mixed Pairs will attract 2023 Playoff Qualifying Points. The top three pairs in the Mixed Butler will be invited to represent Australia in Poland later this year.

Format of Championship Events

The first event of the Championships is the Paul Lavings’ Bridgegear Welcome Swiss Pairs, to be played on Saturday 2nd July.

The Interstate Teams, which precedes the Butler Pairs, begins on Sunday 3rd July, with the Finals on the evening of Wednesday 6th, and Thursday 7th July.  The only evening session is the first stanza of the Interstate Teams Final.

The ANC Matchpoint Interstate Swiss Pairs will be held on Thursday July 7th and Friday July 8th. The event takes the form of a single field Matchpoint Swiss Pairs event, with 10 matches each of 10 boards (5  on each day).  Prizes will be awarded to the highest placed Open, Mixed and Youth Pairs.  Free entry is provided for ANC Interstate Teams contestants, others may enter for a fee of $60 per pair.  Each pair of entrants must be from the same state.

The TBIB Butler Pairs will run from Saturday 9th to Thursday 14th July. The TBIB Open and Mixed Butler Pairs will be conducted in two stages—a Preliminary Stage and a Final Stage. 

The format for these events can be found in the Supplementary Regulations.

The TBIB Restricted Butler Pairs Event will be run alongside Stage 1 of the TBIB Open Butler and will consist of 9 x 12 board matches in a Swiss movement.

Eligibility:

Restricted Butler – under 300 Masterpoints as at 31/12/2021;

Youth – must be born on or after 1/01/1997;

Youth Discount:

50% off all entry fees – (ensure your DOB is entered in your My ABF profile to have the discount applied when entering) – all T&Cs apply.

Other Discount:

An early bird discount will be available for those players who register and pay for their entries before 8th June 2022.  This discount applies to the TBIB Butler Stage 1 Pairs, also the Restricted, Mixed and Seniors competitions and is $10.00 per player per event.  All entry fees are inclusive of GST.

World Bridge Series in Wroclaw Poland, 19 August - 3 September 2022

The top 3 placegetters of the Mixed Butler Pairs are eligible to receive a subsidy if they attend the World Bridge Series in Poland and play one event as a pair (either pairs or teams event).
First - $3,000 for the pair plus entry fee for one event;
Second - $2,000 for the pair plus entry for one event; and
Third - $1,000 for the pair plus entry fee for one event.

Parking:  There is ample free parking with access from Anzac Highway (Junction Car Park).  There are many parking spaces for mobility impaired persons.

Public Transport:  Morphett Road is a designated tram stop between Adelaide and Glenelg.  Morphettville Racecourse tram stop is only available on race days.  Numerous buses also stop close to the venue.  Maps & timetables are available on line and will be available from the hospitality desk at the venue.

Taxis:  Numbers for local taxis are:  Suburban - 131008 and Adelaide Independent - 132211.

Catering:  Tea, coffee and lunch items will be available for purchase from the venue bar in the Bistro Room after 8.30am each day.

Bar Facility:  The Bar will be open after play and until untill late each day.

Venue Closure:  The playing rooms will close at 7.30 pm each day. There are other bar rooms in the building for those who wish to stay longer. The venue is open for dinner.

Victory Dinner

When:  7.00 p.m., Thursday, 7th July 2022.

Where:  Phar Lap Room - Morphettville Racecourse, Corner of Anzac Highway and Morphettville Road – admission via ticket.

 Includes the presentation of Interstate trophies and medallions. This event is open to all.

Cost:   $110 (inc. GST) per person (covers dinner and limited drinks—  open bar for other drink purchases).

 Any request for special dietary needs should be advised when purchasing tickets.

Parking:  Parking is available for the dinner in the Morphettville Racecourse Member’s Car Park off Morphett Road (Directions will be provided during the competition).

 Open Buffet Menu:  Entrée; choice from four main courses including vegetarian; two vegetables dishes and three desserts choices.
